How to Plan Your Seasonal Marketing Content

Seasonal marketing is adapting your message to suit the current season or time. For example, the message you share in the summer will likely be very different from the message you share in the winter.

While you could choose to adapt on the fly, this can be time-consuming and leave you staring at a blinking cursor and facing a looming deadline.

Instead of facing stress, planning your seasonal marketing content in advance is far easier.

In this blog post, I will walk you through how to plan your marketing and give you some examples of how you can change your message to suit the different seasons.

Here are some thought points to get you started:

  • Create a marketing calendar – (Addressing your reader) To get the best results from your marketing, you should create a marketing calendar. Your calendar will help you plan out any campaigns and see, at a glance, what you and your team should be preparing for next. Your marketing calendar can include paid ads, blog posts, social media content, email marketing and more.
  • Quarterly planning – (Addressing your reader) It’s wise to plan ahead with your marketing. Ideally, you’ll want to sit down at least once per quarter to prepare everything you’ll create in the coming quarter. For example, before you reach October, you’ll want to sit down and plan your marketing for the holiday season.
  • Seasonal content – (Addressing your reader) Embracing seasonal content will help you adapt your marketing message to suit the current time of year. Your marketing in the summer, when people are more likely to be outdoors, will be very different from the type of message you share in the winter. Seasonal content helps you be more in tune with your audience and share marketing messages that are more likely to inspire action.
  • Important days – (Addressing your reader) During each season, there will likely be a number of important days that you’ll want to include in your marketing. For example, October 10th is World Mental Health Day. If your business chooses to give back to mental health charities or if better mental health is a crucial focus of your business, this is the perfect day to create a piece of content that focuses on better mental health.
  • Repurpose – (Addressing your reader) As you create content and graphics assets, try to keep repurposing in mind. When you repurpose something, you’re saving yourself the time from needing to make it from scratch again. For example, if you create social media graphics for the holiday season, ensure you save these so you can use them again next year. Not only will it save you time, but it also helps your brand to stay consistent.
